My first day in Thailand
20th March 2006
I had supper with a group of buddy from secondary school, (Josh, Shawn, Adrian, Bob and Ping Nam). We was chatting and recapping the past we had at our secondary school, how we quarreled but still ended up to be the best of the best friends. We really missed that type of lifestyle, but too bad, as we all grown up, we have to move towards the future.
After supper at 85 Food Market, Adrian suggested a game of billiard and we went to Grandlink Square, but to our surprise, it was closed. BUT nothing can stop us, we went to Macpherson- Jackson Kopitiam to play. After the game, Adrian was eventually and ultimately the loser. *Laugh Out Loud* he lost $20 on number ball. After that we went for tim sum at the food court, and was chatting again about the past.
After the second round of supper, It was time to bid farewell. 4months, then I can have another round of supper with them. But by them, maybe Ping Nam and Shawn is already enlisted into the army.
I went home, looking at my unpacked luggage, my laundry, a lot of thing not done, but I am meeting Johnson at 11.30am. Then another problem crops up, Eleanor’s boyfriend called me. He said that she was left stranded at the airport, nobody was there to pick her up. Wow, she’s strong. Imagine alone and lonely, in a land which u are a total stranger to it. Eleanor, I know you can brave through the 4months. Good luck to you.
At around 8am, I fell asleep on my mum’s bed while I was packing. I woke up at around 90minutes later when my sis’s boyfriend arrived. He was here to send me and also bought breakfast for us. I took a bath and ate the breakfast before resuming packing my stuff. OMG, at this very crucial point of time, I realized I couldn’t find my pants. No choice, but I have to go down and purchase one. After purchasing, we set off to the airport.
At the airport, Mr. Rick Toh was sick, yet he turned up to send us off which his wife and kids. We spoke for awhile, and soon dear was here. She’s behave perfectly alright, I thought she would be very sad. Well, we took some photos, and she was still smiling all the while. When it was time for me and Johnson to check in, suddenly I have the very sad feeling of departing. I can’t bear to part with Dear, Hais… And she was hugging me so tightly. I would really miss her so much. She pass me a present, and said only to open it when I am on the flight.
I went into the gate, pass the security counter and as I turned my head around, I can see dear running to a corner, tears dripping, HAIS, PARTING SCENE are always so sad.
I called her and told her to be brave and stop crying and 4months is just a short test to us.
At the flight, I was looking out to the Blue Ocean and green land, when I suddenly remembered the present from dear. I opened up and saw a sweet booklet containing our past memories. It’s so sweet and thoughtful of her. Dear, this 4mths we can brave through wan, take care and miss you lot. Loving you forever... (Written on: GMT+7 1500h)
Don’t know what happened to the last 30mins of the flight, I have such a bad headache, not sure whether it was the pressure of the aircraft. I fell asleep and didn’t know what happen till Johnson told me that the plane could not land and was rounding about the airport in Bangkok.
When my eyes was opened once again, We were ready to alight. We will like stranger to a foreign land, and not sure where and how to proceed with the alighting procedure, they do not understand our language and we will scared to reveal our identity that we was Singaporean due to the recent politic issues between Singapore and Thailand. Finally, we was out to the waiting area, looking for ‘STCC’ to welcome us. Wow, first time saw such a crowd waiting. Haha, at last we found our supervisor, Nuroo, and we boarded a taxi to our apartment.
Nuroo is very friendly and easy-going person at first sight. We chatted happily and treat us with Swenson. Swenson in Thailand only serve ice-cream, wow, my first time eating Swenson, but a bad experience as I don’t really like the ice-cremator ya before we reached the mall, we saw a terrible accident. A biker was terribly knock down by 2 vehicles. The biker was lying flat on the floor and couldn’t move at all. Me and Johnson was pretty aware of the traffic situation about Thailand and to be careful when crossing the road. Then we went to bought some of our necessities and sim card.
As it was after 6pm in Thailand, we decided not to bother Nuroo and we arranged to meet tomorrow morning at 7.30am. then we went back and left what we bought and decided the second shopping list. Our first funny incident in Thailand, sex in the street, a group of dogs… LOL!! Doggy style!
As we have not enough cash and money changer was closed, we decided to be budget abit. But LOL, in the end we use MasterCard to make payment for our shopping and went for dinner, pork chop rice.
Then we reach our apartment, begin to clean and bath before going down to the LAN shop as my laptop cannot get connected. It’s 11.50pm now, and time for us to sleep. Sleep tight, TaTa!!! (Written on: GMT+7 2350h)
